VOLUNTEER

Volunteers—we could not do this without you! We have many volunteer opportunities ranging from the much-needed daily cleaning and caring for our furry guests, helping at fundraisers, bake sale baking, answering the phone and staffing our gift shop. Volunteers are a priceless asset to our shelter in so many ways, and the animals benefit the most!

A Volunteer At The Ho Ho TableTo become an SCHS Volunteer, you need to fill out an application and pay a tax deductible $10.00 orientation fee prior to orientation class, or $15 at the door. All prospective volunteers are required to attend an orientation class before starting their volunteer service. Classes are held at the shelter the second Saturday of each month here at the shelter. To become an independent volunteer at SCHS you must be at least 16 years old. Kids needing to perform community services hours for school are permitted with an adult guardian, though animal contact is limited for safety reasons. Scout groups are welcome for project based volunteering—pick a project to help animals and contact us!
We hope to see you soon!

For questions about volunteering, please contact the shelter at 636-949-9918.

FOSTER PROGRAM

The St. Charles Humane Society is a life-enhancing organization that promotes the care and protection of all companion animals. We receive many animals that are not ready to be placed up for adoption including orphaned or malnourished, injured, ill or the victims of abuse or neglect who need long-term medical rehabilitation or extra socialization.Kittens

The St. Charles Humane Society relies on the kindness of our Foster Care Volunteers to take these special animals into their homes and provide them with the love and care they need to grow strong. Once recovered, Foster animals return to the Society healthy, friendly, and eager to join a new family like yours.

As you can imagine, providing hands-on daily care to an animal that is to be given up for adoption can be a difficult and emotional task. Our Foster Care Volunteers only reward for their work is the knowledge that they have made a difference in the life of a homeless animal. Are you ready for the challenge?

If you would like information on how you can join
our team of dedicated Foster Volunteers,
please contact the St. Charles Humane Society at 636-949-9918.

T.O.P. DOG – TRAINED ON PREMISES

T.O.P. DogOur T.O.P. Dog training program was started in 2004 to enrich the lives of our canine residents. As a non-euthanizing facility, some of our canine guests may have an extended stay with us, and this program lets us keep their minds and bodies busy. This makes their stay here more enjoyable and also makes them better candidates for adoption with their new skills. Dog loving volunteers are needed to take our T.O.P. Dog training class to learn ways you can improve the adoptability of our dogs and puppies. Learn basic commands and tricks that will make our furry buddies even more loveable and help improve their chance at adoption.

Call the shelter at 636-949-9918 for more details.
